Description

Knowledge is power but what makes knowledge even more powerful is how we utilise it. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding is one of the biggest contributors to any country’s economic growth. The government has mandated the contributions of 2% of the company’s profit toward CSR with the enactment of Corporate Law, 2013. A large chunk of this investment goes to the education sector and a further small percentage of that to career guidance. Amendment in Companies Act, 1956 made it mandatory under Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013. Career counselling is not a new concept for India; in fact, if we look back to 1938, we found that the Acharya Narendra Dev Committee emphasized the importance of career guidance earlier.

The report has several purposes and will interest the audience from the corporate sector, NGOs and career counsellors. It will help businesses who are thinking to invest in CSR and expanding initiatives in the education sector. Career counsellors will be benefited by understanding how to widen the scope of their services and this will serve NGOs who are interested in improving career guidance at the national level.

This report is an effort to determine the country’s CSR expenditure on career counselling. The report has been written with an aim to give an insight to career counselling as a CSR initiative and to promote it at a national level so as to increase the number of beneficiaries.
